Welcome to The Idaho Business
Aviation Association!
The IBAA is a non-profit 501(c)(6)
regional business aviation trade organization. It is one of 50
similar groups in the country. The National Business Aviation
Association (NBAA) developed the concept of regional business aviation
groups. The NBAA believed that many issues, such as airport noise
and access problems, develop locally and regional associations could
better manage such issues if recognized early. |

What is a regional business
aviation group?
It is simply a group of volunteers from
a certain geographical area formed for the purpose of networking, socializing
and working toward the common goal of improving the business aviation
system.
Who is invited to participate? Any
person or company that shares an intense interest in business aviation. The
IBAA is currently “dues free” by being 100% supported by
its sponsorship program.
Business Aviation in Idaho
The state of Idaho lists over 80 turbine-registered
aircraft and equal number of business related piston aircraft. This
relates to hundreds of direct jobs and thousands of peripheral jobs. The
economic impact of business aviation to Idaho would be valued in the
millions of dollars. A regional business aviation group such
as the IBAA expects to play an important role within an “airplane
state” like Idaho.
On September 29, 2003, the IBAA held its
first scheduled luncheon meeting at the Boise Airport Holiday Inn. NBAA
sponsored the event. 35 prospective members representing corporate
flight departments, charter operators, FBO’s, aviation finance
companies, manufacturers and numerous other individuals attended the
luncheon. During the meeting we introduced the regional business
aviation group concept, listened to a pilot who flew a PC-12 around
the world, and surveyed the membership for their interests.
Since that inaugural meeting in 2003,
we have been holding consistent quarterly meetings and have seen our
membership grow to over 100 members. Our presenters have included
aircraft manufacturers, avionics vendors, ICAO ambassadors and airport
mangers. Seminars sponsored by IBAA have included VLJ development
and CRM techniques.
Our summer 2004 meeting was an especially
rewarding event. This unique “networking social” was
held in July at the Warhawk Air Museum located at the Nampa, ID airport. The
evening included a buffet dinner, no host bar and museum privileges. A
special addition during this event was the honoring of five of Idaho’s “Aviation
Pioneers”. The show of appreciation from those pioneers
and their spouses really affirmed the work of the IBAA.
Cessna sponsored our fall luncheon meeting
on October 21. IBAA members viewed the 2004 Citation Sovereign
static display and listened to keynote speaker Roger Whyte, VP of Worldwide
Sales. Nearly 100 IBAA members participated in this luncheon meeting
catered by Murphy’s Executive Chef Dustin Bristol. IBAA
Chairman Mike Pape also announced the newly formed IBAA Scholarship
Fund. This program will fund three students to attend the Idaho
Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy next spring. The IBAA
is committed to invest in the development of future business aviation
professionals.
On September 16, 2005 the IBAA legitimized
its status within the industry when NBAA President Ed Bolen visited
us for a luncheon meeting sponsored by Western Aircraft/ Pilatus Dealer.
We believe we have an exceptionally bright
future and an opportunity to make a difference in Idaho’s business
aviation industry. If you are interested in IBAA membership,
an application form is attached.
If you were also interested in contributing
to our group as a steering committee member, board member, presenter
or sponsor, we would welcome your support. Contact an IBAA officer
for details.
The IBAA is “wheels up” with
clear skies and a promising future. We hope you’ll join
us!
