Idaho Business Aviation Association

About Us

Business Aviation in Idaho

The state of Idaho is home to more than 1,600 registered aircraft. More than 400 of those planes are owned by corporations or governmental entities. Recreational flights also contribute to Idaho’s economy with close to 1,000 aircraft owned by individuals flying in and out of general aviation airports, such as our beautiful and unique back-country airstrips.

Hundreds of direct jobs and thousands of peripheral jobs support aviation in Idaho—and the economic impact to the state is valued in the millions of dollars. Our regional business aviation group plays an important role within this centrally located western state.

IBAA Mission

The Idaho Business Aviation Association is a statewide organization dedicated to improving our aviation system in Idaho. This is accomplished through our commitment to aviation advocacy, professional development, networking, continuing education, scholarships, and promoting the safety and effectiveness of business aviation in Idaho.

Our History

On September 29, 2003, the IBAA held its first luncheon at the Boise Airport Holiday Inn. The event was sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and attended by 35 prospective members representing corporate flight departments, charter operators, FBOs, aviation finance companies, and manufacturers. Since 2003, we’ve seen our membership grow to more than 200 members. Our presenters have included aircraft manufacturers, avionics vendors, fuel vendors, ICAO ambassadors, and airport managers, among others in the aviation industry.

In 2004, IBAA Chairman Mike Pape announced the newly formed IBAA Scholarship Fund, which enabled three students to attend the Idaho Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy the following spring. The IBAA remains committed to investing in the development of future business aviation professionals.

In 2005, the IBAA solidified its status within the industry when National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President Ed Bolen attended our September meeting.

The IBAA is “wheels up” with clear skies and a promising future as we work to make a difference in Idaho’s business aviation industry. Join us!
